We respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how you can delete your SilverGents account and associated data, what happens when you do, and what data we may need to retain for legal or operational purposes.

How to Delete Your Account

Deleting your account is straightforward. Follow these steps to permanently remove your account and data from SilverGents: **Step 1:** Log in to your account and go to Settings. **Step 2:** Navigate to Account Settings or Privacy section. **Step 3:** Click on 'Delete Account' or 'Request Data Deletion'. **Step 4:** Confirm your identity by entering your password. **Step 5:** Review the information about what will be deleted and confirm your decision. Once confirmed, your account will be deactivated immediately and scheduled for permanent deletion.

What Data Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, we remove the following data permanently: Your profile information (name, bio, photos, preferences), all messages and conversations, your matches and likes history, your uploaded photos and videos, your search history and activity logs, your payment information (credit card details are not stored by us, but by our payment processor), and your account preferences and settings.

Data We May Retain

In certain circumstances, we may need to retain some information even after you delete your account: **Transaction records** for legal and tax compliance (typically 7 years). **Anonymized data** that cannot be linked back to you for analytics. **Communications with support** for quality assurance. **Legal hold data** if required by law or ongoing legal proceedings. **Fraud prevention data** to protect our community from repeat offenders. This retained data is handled according to our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

Deletion Timeline

Account deletion follows this timeline: **Immediate:** Your profile is hidden from other users and you are logged out. **Within 24 hours:** Your data stops being processed for non-essential purposes. **Within 30 days:** Most of your personal data is permanently deleted from our active systems. **Within 90 days:** Backup systems are purged of your data. **Exception:** Some data may be retained longer as described in 'Data We May Retain' section. You can cancel the deletion within the first 30 days by contacting support.

Before You Delete

Before deleting your account, please consider: **Export your data:** You can download a copy of your data before deletion from Settings > Privacy > Download My Data. **Active subscriptions:** Deleting your account does not automatically cancel paid subscriptions. Please cancel any subscriptions first. **This action is permanent:** After the 30-day grace period, your data cannot be recovered. **Reconnecting:** If you delete your account, you will need to create a new account to use SilverGents again. Your previous matches and messages will not be recoverable.
